Examine your breakers. They may well be aged. I dwell in an more mature home and whoever wired my residence was a retard when it will come to the breakers.

You”ll require a wide variety of Jigs from one/4-one/two OZ dimension White & Chartreuse coloring. Match your jig-heads with Gulp solutions these kinds of as these:

one. Gulp, Swimming Mullet- http://www.basspro.com/Berkley-Gulp!-Alive!-Saltwater-Swimming-Mullet/solution/10213715/-1692348

2. Gulp, Saltwater Jerkshad- http://www.basspro.com/Berkley®-Gulp!®-Saltwater-Jerk-Shad/merchandise/75761/-1238642

Make guaranteed the jig-head and physique are the similar coloration. I recommend stocking up on quite a few of these- you will reduce them often due to hang-ups and toothy critters.

A different lure I’ve observed productive in the Keys is a Rapala, HJ10 Husky Jerk, (Make positive to exchange the O-rings and hooks to 3X solid versions) Everything Inshore will hit this lure.- http://www.basspro.com/Rapala-Husky-Jerk&153-Minnow/merchandise/2827/-499450

If your chasing ‘Cuda try out a Tube lure. Tube Lures get the job done like magic on ‘Cuda- http://www.tackledirect.com/sea-striker-cuda-tube.html

Possibly the most critical tackle to get with you would be Fluorocarbon line and leader materials AND reduced-viz wire leader. The drinking water is typically crystal clear almost everywhere you fish in the Keys….

Lures can be productive, but I’ve discovered that Lower-bait, Reside-bait and Live Shrimp are far better. It is really tough to fool the fish of the Keys with lures- due to the water clarity.

Right here are some appealing hyperlinks on fishing the Keys:

Update: Ugh- The lures I’ve advised are not “random”, whatsoever, lures. I’ve Fished & Fly-fished the Keys forಞ ages. Jigs are exceptionally popular (and low-priced), as are Surgical Tube lures I personally located that the Rapala HJ’s labored well whilst fishing there. On your way down to Vital West DO prevent in to the “Environment Vast Sportsman” in Islamorada a proficient personnel functions there. BUT, their charges are excessive in contrast to rates on the Mainland- as are MOST tackle stores in the Keys. (A shame Sea Boots closed- great shop)- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/outlets/servlet/CFPageC?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-one&appID=94&storeID=21 By all suggests, help the financial system of the Keys by getting deal with although there……..

Andrew is right- you won’t be casting pretty a lot of lures with your 12FT rod. Your rod is created for “watching” not “casting”. ‘Course if you examine the back links I furnished you would have uncovered that out….

What do you consider? Solution beneath!

First off. you will not want to be casting and reeling that 12ft rod all day… 12ft surf rods are not ment for that they are ment to be casted and left there to sit a while. I suggest not using lures and using a “shark rig” Have about 8ft of shock leader say of 100lb mono and then have 1-2 feet of wire leader and have a 10/0 circle hook with a chunk of mullet on there and just wait for them to smoke it. use 4-6oz pyramid sinker. If you wanted to cast i suggest getting a smaller rod OR bring to rigs keep your big 12ft for big stuff like the tarpon cudas jacks and sharks and then bring a nice 7ft spinning set up to cast with. I know all this from exp lol i do this except i fish for sharks. If your going to cast i suggest going to a local bait shop and asking them… they will know EXACTLY what to use rather then some randoms on here. just my 2 cents GL!

my first choice is spoons, silver and gold various sizes, cast and retrieve at various depths, speeds, steady and stop and start and really fast on surface it all works.

kastmasters, they catch everthing that swims and are easy to use u can either straight retrieve or u can pause every few reels and let them fall, or even verical jig. i have never surf fished but im sure a long cast is important and they do exactly that. i have caught almost every type of fish in my local river with this lure trout, pike, bass, and panfish. I usaually use the 1/8 oz but they come in all sizes. and i have seen ppl use them on saltwater watching the outdoor channel. also sweedish pimple spoons, daredevils, and big floating rapals cast very far and seem to be irresistable to any fish. a 12 ft rod seems way too big and pry hard to cast long distances, it might be easier to put the lure where u need it with a 7 foot rod. again i have never surf fished or fished on saltwater but the lures mentioned above catch every species where im from, aggresive and non agressive fish so they should be just as universal for saltwater
